Process to get your Texas LTC

Step 1 - Complete the self-paced online LTC class.

  • Once completed you are issued an LTC-104 form.

  • Take your LTC-104 and proceed to next step.

Step 2 - Complete the live shooting demonstration.

  • If you are located within our local service area, one of our qualified instructors can administer your proficiency test. If you are located outside our service area, we can assist you in finding a qualified instructor in your area to administer the test.

  • Complete the shooting proficiency demonstration.

  • Pass the course/test → instructor completes and signs the required parts of the LTC-104.

Step 3 - Apply for your LTC .

  • Submit your online application and completed LTC-104 form to the Texas DPS.

  • The DPS will provide instructions on fingerprinting and background check once application is submitted.

  • Receive your Texas LTC in the mail.
